G. Neil Midkiff is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Following nuclear power training and submarine school, he served on two nuclear submarines during the Cold War, the attack submarine USS Jack and the ballistic missile Submarine USS Lafayette.
Following his tour on Lafayette, he resigned his commission and began a forty-year career in the commercial nuclear power industry. He held management positions at operating and new construction nuclear power plants and as a management consultant to US and international electrical utility companies, the US Department of Energy and the US Department of Defense.
He retired to the southern coast of Spain in 2018 where he writes articles for his Substack blog Peace Through Strength and is working on his next novel, Undetectable.
