Novel: Deep Courage: A War Story

Dive into a story of honor, endurance, and the unbreakable bonds of the human spirit

Beneath the waves, courage is tested.
When the new naval officer Nick Greenway volunteers for the Silent Service, he’s thrust into the heart of World War II’s most dangerous battles. Facing enemy attacks, failed torpedoes, and the terror of the deep, Nick’s fight for survival is matched only by Anne Gilchrist’s struggle on the home front—waiting, hoping, and refusing to give up.

Separated by war but bound by love, Nick and Anne must each find the strength to endure loss, captivity, and the long road home. Inspired by true events, Deep Courage is a sweeping tale of resilience, sacrifice, and the unbreakable human spirit.

“I thought of this story many years ago as a young LT(JG) on USS Jack (SSN-605). I had read everything I could about the WW II submarines and the war in the Pacific. Jack was named for its WW II predecessor (SS-259) and we had her battle flags and sinkings record on the bulkhead in the crew’s mess. I spent a lot of time thinking what was it like to serve in that time, in that war. When I decided to write my first novel, this was always going to be that story. “
